This week we have been working mainly on longer poses, today i started using pens as a medium, this was actually very good for me as I love using Sharpies with pen and ink. The good quality about using ink, is that you can create a strong line which instantly adds height and definition to your drawings. but you do need to focus on the shading and technique of your drawings because mine turned out relativley flat, but when I introduced cross hatches shading, it lifted them off the page a little.
Trying to imagine artificial lighting also is very useful, it allows you to spot the light and dark shadows on a figure, by squinting your eyes, this also helps to locate those areas.
Below are some drawings that I have made each one using a slightly different technique.
Zbrush Torso, Gerring into Detail
Today I have been working steadily on the the torso, I am starting to notice a big improvement on the model and i have plotted some of the major muscles, I am mainly working on the back at the moment, the front hasn't really been touched, but I'm looking at the body in sections, I've been working on the neck, chest, back and deltoids separately so I can focus a bit more attention on the reference images, as opposed to having tens of hundreds of different photos to look at. Focusing on just a small amount of good reference material is far more useful for me.
Below you will see a dramatic change in the back of the torso, i have used the clay tubes brush and the move tool brush to bring the hips out a bit, and move the waist in so she appears slim. Females are quite subtle so I decided to make the bone definition just slight but noticeable.
Below you will see some reference material that i have used to try and create the back of the torso, I found this all very useful, most of the reference material consist of women in dynamic poses though so i have had to improvise a little, and imagine them in poses where they are stood up straight.
For example, in one picture the woman's arm is extended above her head, this has caused her shoulder girdle to be twisted horizontally, so i had to try and imagine her shoulder with the arm down to her side.
